about
Sous’ driving rhythm and sparkling acoustics support a simple hook that'll stick in your head for weeks, just like the last autumn leaves in the neighbourhood park.
Sous, which was recorded in Vancouver and London, speaks to the hesitant excitement that dances around the first moments of a new relationship, and using that momentum to open up to life in general.
"After spending a long period of time pretty closed off to the world and other people, I came home buzzing from my first first-date in a long time. I decided that even if this particular relationship wasn’t forever, I was feeling optimistic and looking forward to the adventures that lay ahead." Okay Mann continues: "All it took was a bit of small-talk at a cocktail bar, but I was finally ready to come out from under whatever fear had been keeping me in my shell.”
Despite the rose-coloured sentiments, Sous is not a love song - it’s about digging yourself out of a rut. It’s not just about any one person, but about finally being open to love, and more importantly, to life.
lyrics
I’m sorry Sarah, you caught me at a bad time
And I don’t want to scare ya - this probably sounds like a line
But I just can’t wait to see where this thing goes
Sous
Are you free this evening? I don’t know if you could tell
But I'm at the ceiling, and I think I’m under your spell
And I just can’t wait to see where this thing goes
I think you’re great and I want you to know
Sous
I’ll admit its early to put your name in a song
But my head’s whirlin’, and I don’t think that I’m wrong
And I just can’t wait to see where this thing goes
